A Message from Matt

Hey there! My name is Matt Duren. I am a musician and speaker from the south side of Atlanta, Georgia. I’m also a full-time worship pastor at Eagles Landing First Baptist Church. As an active musician I enjoy working in studios, playing for shows and speaking at different events around the country when I have the opportunity. My wife Luisa and I have been married since 1998 and have 4 kids, Rebekah, David, Andrew, and Judah.

Being raised in the south by a musical family, I was exposed to tons of bluegrass, so naturally I was drawn to playing as many bluegrass instruments I could find. Mainly piano, drums and french horn. [wink wink, those aren’t bluegrass instruments] Over the years my curiosity has led me to try to learn as many instruments as I can.

I became a follower of Christ as a senior in high school, which I barely graduated. In my young adult years I found myself traveling on the road playing music, doing a lot of studio work, and eventually settled into a dozen years of youth ministry. After spending a year in southern California leading worship, my family and I returned to Georgia and I’ve been on staff at ELFBC since 2010. Presently, I lead the 11:00 worship team, oversee our choirs, and help with our kids worship and arts program on Wednesday nights.

I’m extremely grateful for the many people who have poured into my life over the years. I hope I can pour into others like so many loving people have done for me.
